About Spotrac

Spotrac has become the largest online sports team, & player contract resource on the internet. The system was founded by Michael Ginnitti & Scott Allen in 2007 as an internal tool to facilitate fantasy sports, and answer every day questions about player financials. Since then it's grown exponentially into a team payroll, player valuation, and overall research tool for a variety of audience groups with the sports business community.

The site currently boasts financial information for MLB, the NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLS. We're continually working to track down historical data for these leagues - in addition to adding new sports and leagues in the immediate future.

Michael Ginnitti (Managing Editor)

A graduate of the University at Buffalo with concentrations in English Journalism and New Media, Michael Ginnitti has been creating and managing web-based application and site development for more than 10 years. As the managing editor of Spotrac, his role includes much of the player data entry, content generation/development for our Research & News sections, social media marketing, & all things public relations (including media requests).

He's the husband of Angela, the father of three daugters, and painfully remains a lifelong New York Mets fan.

Scott Allen (Director of Development & Research)

A graduate of Edinboro University & George Mason University with concentrations in Advanced Mathematics & Educational Technology, Scott Allen has been the back end development engine for dozens of powerful web-based sports, business to business, and educational applications. As the development & research director of Spotrac, his role includes the management of the code/database system, the creation of intricate analytical reports for use in research (internal & external), and any development tools Spotrac has to offer.

He's the husband of Lisa, the father of two, and a long-distance Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fanatic.

Dan Soemann (MLB and NFL Researcher)

A graduate of the University at Buffalo with focus on Communications, Dan Soemann has been an avid researcher of MLB for most of his life focusing on the fantasy and gambling side baseball. As the MLB (and frequent NFL) researcher for Spotrac, his role includes much of the MLB player data validation, player and team research, and learning the intricacies of the CBA.

He's the husband of Brittany, the father of one son, and is a die-hard Cleveland Guardians fan.

Keith Smith (NBA Contributor)

A graduate of the Bridgewater State University, Keith Smith is a guru of all things NBA, including CBA specifics, salary cap and tax details, and player transactions.

He's a long-distance fan of the Boston Celtics, New York Yankees New England Patriots.
